Turkey is Back on the Schedule!

Oh my god, it is actually happening. Turkey is back, baby!

That is right. After six long, quiet years, the legendary Istanbul Park is officially returning to the F1 calendar in 2027. And they are staying put until at least 2031.

Remember 2020? When Lewis Hamilton absolutely mastered that ridiculously slippery track in the pouring rain to grab his historic seventh world title? Yeah, that happened here. We are finally getting those iconic, high-speed Turn 8 vibes back on our screens.

If you need a quick history refresher, Turkey was a staple from 2005 to 2011. Then it vanished. It did make a brief, chaotic comeback during the pandemic years of 2020 and 2021 when F1 was desperately scrambling for tracks, but this new deal is the real deal.

Now, before anyone panics about a 30-race calendar, take a breath. F1 is capping things at 24 races. To make room for Istanbul, some current tracks are going to have to share the spotlight. Think of it like the Belgian Grand Prix. Spa just signed a new deal to host only four races over a six-year stretch starting in 2026. Turkey will likely slot into a similar rotating shift as other contracts wrap up.

Even the politicians are hyped. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan pointed out that F1 has a massive, young, and super passionate fanbase in the country, reaching about 19 million people. He basically said the return is a massive vote of confidence in Turkey’s ability to host world-class events. And, let’s be honest, their hospitality is unmatched.

F1 big boss Stefano Domenicali is equally thrilled. He called Istanbul an incredible, vibrant city that acts as a bridge between Europe and Asia. Plus, he rightly pointed out that the track itself is easily one of the most challenging and exciting circuits on the planet.

2027 cannot come soon enough. Get those travel plans ready.
